What is that reaction, and what do you think lies behind it? Phoeby is sort of appointed the town's representative to go talk to Janie. How does Janie explain her idea of love to Phoeby? She fears that Tea Cake is using her. But Tea Cake really does like Janie, but she likes him, but not as lovers, but as friends. She's scared to express her real feelings for him when she know she feels the same way he does. The town doesn't approve of Janie, the mayors wife, to date a poor younger man like Tea Cake. They don't like that she is treated the way she wants to be treated with Tea Cake. She doesn't want to see that maybe Tea Cake is using her for her money. Pheoby cautions her once more to be careful with Tea Cake, but then the two women laugh and share in Janie’s newfound happiness. Janie reveals that she plans to sell the store, leave town, and marry Tea Cake.
ReplyDeletejanie fears that tea cake only wants her money. tea cake tells janie that he really has geniune feelings for her but janie says she only sees him as a friend and thats all. the towns people do not approve of there relationship saying she is simply to old and they use pheoby to tell her. Pheoby warns her to be watchful but janie just brushes it off.. Janie wants to sale the store and move away from eatonville so that her and tea cake can be together peacefully.
ReplyDeleteIn chapter 11 Janie fears that Tea Cake is using her for her money. Janie also has the town people in her ear so she fears that he might also have other women, and she might just be another victim of his. In Chapter 12 the town begins to see more of Janie and Tea Cake relationship together. The town starts to gossip about the thing that are going on. The towns reaction to the two of them is like they are disgusted with Janie and Tea Cake being together. They think that she is moving on to soon after her husband death, and she could do better than Tea Cake. When Pheoby goes to speak with Janie she tries to talk her out of being with Tea Cake, but Janie is determined to do as she please. Janie then explains her idea of love to Pheoby. Janie explains her idea of love as being the bee to and blossom and a pear tree in the spring. Janie then proceeds to tell Pheoby that she plans to sell the store and move away from Eatonville with Tea Cake to start a new life.
ReplyDeleteIn later on in the book Janie meets a fella by the name of Tea Cake.Everyone thinks that Tea Cake only wants to be with Janie for her money and that he is going to use her.Tea Cake really have feelings for Janie but everyone doesn't see that. They think Janie shouldn't go out with him.Little do they know Tea Cake wants to be with Janie for all the right reasons not the wrong ones.Pheoby tries to warn Janie about Tea cake but she doesn't listen. She plans on selling the store and moving out with Tea Cake.
ReplyDeleteIn chapter 11 Janie fears Teaa Cake is using her. Janie also thinks Tea Cake only wants her money and she is afraid he will leave her for another woman. Tea Cake tells her he has only feelings for her and he isn't using her. In chapter 12 the townspeople feel like she jumped into a relationship to fast. The townspeople don't approve of Janie being with Tea Cake. The townspeople believe that she is to old for Tea Cake and wants Pheoby to tell her so. When Pheoby talks to Janie she tries to talk her down about Tea Cake. Pheoby feels as if Tea Cake wants to treat Janie good, but he's going to wants something out of it. Janie explains to Pheoby about her and Tea Cakes love. Janie tells Pheoby that she decides to sell the store, leave town, and run off to get married to Tea Cake.
ReplyDeleteJanie fears that Tea Cake is only coming in her life to get her money, and that he has other women on the side and she is just another woman that he had come in contact with. In chapter 12 the towns folks think that Tea Cake is no good and Janie is a fool. Their opinion is that she is moving to fast and after 9 months he husband is barely dead and she's already moving on. They still see her as the Mayor's wife. They send Pheoby to talk to Janie but Janie's mind is made up. Janie's loves Tea Cake and her definition of love is like a bee to a blossoming flower irresistible. Janie continues and tell Pheoby that she is going to sell the store and move away from Eatonville to start a new life with Tea Cake.
ReplyDeleteIn chapter 11, Janie feels that Tea Cake is too young for her and she fears that he is only coming around her just to get what she has. She also fears that he is a man who mess around with different women just to use them. In chapter 12, the town's people thinks that what Janie is doing is all wrong. They feel that Tea Cake only want her for what she have. Also, they thinks Janie shouldn't be talking to anybody that age or talking to anybody period because her husband has only been dead for 9 months for her to even be thinking about dating someone else, already. So I believe a lot of drama is going to happen but I also believe that all the things they are saying about Tea Cake isn't true. Janie explains her idea of love to Pheoby by telling her how he really cares about her , Tea Cake likes her to be around people, how he like to see her in colored dresses and how he is nothing like Joe Starks. The surprising news that Janie tells Pheoby was that, she is selling the store. Also, her and Tea Cake are moving somewhere else and starting all over his way and they are going to get married.
ReplyDeleteIn Chapter 11, Janie fears to fall deeply in love with Tea Cake because of how young Tea Cake is. She thinks that Tea Cake wants to take advantage of her.. In Chapter 12, the town thinks that Janie is making a wrong decision by dating Tea Cake. They think that Tea Cake is a type of guy that will fool with one woman & go to the next. Janie husband has been dead for at least 9 months and she is already dating someone else that is no good. But Janie thinks that Tea Cake is a great guy, & she thinks she made a right decision because Tea Cake gives her more attention than what Joe gave her. Janie later explains her love for Tea Cake to Pheoby by telling her how Tea Cake loves to see her in blue dresses, buying her gifts.. things that he likes to see her in. Janie surprises Pheoby by telling her that she is going to sell the store, move out of Eatonville & start a new life with Tea Cake.
ReplyDeleteJanie fees like he is taking advantage of her money, and she feels angry on the inside about it. In chapter the town gossips about them behind their back about them dating each other, the reaction is when the town hates to see janie with someone younger than the mayor. the lies behind the situation is that he is persuading janie like he is a wealthy man that can help her...like he is better than the mayor Joe. Jnie explains her idea of love to phoeby by saying teacake "treats her like she wants to be treated", Janie wants to sell the store, move to another town and get married to teacake but she literally doesnt know he is going to use her for all the money she makes off the store.
ReplyDeleteJanie fears that TeaCake only wants her for her money. The town disaprove of Janie and Tea Cakes' relationship. Some of the towns' people disaprove out of jelousy and other because they see Janie as the all mighty mayor's wife. Janie thinks her love is the bee to the blossum and a pear tree in the spring. Janie tells Pheobie that she wants to sell the store and run off.
ReplyDeleteIn chapter 11, Janie fears that Tea Cake is using her for her money just because she is much older than him. She always thinks that he might be with some other girl while he is not with her. In chapter 12, the town doesn’t approve of Janie and Tea Cake being together. They think that out of all the men that she could have, she had to pick him. Joe hasn’t been dead for long and they feel that she should not be moving on so quickly. I think they feel that way about them because Tea Cake is probably known for using women around town for their money and they don’t want to see Janie being used like the other women. Janie explains her idea of love by saying what likes and doesn’t like. She compares Tea Cake to Jody and picks out all the things that Jody would make her do that Tea Cake doesn’t. Her surprising news to Phoebe is that she plans to marry Tea Cake. Also, she plans to sell the store and move out of Eatonville and start all over in Tea Cake’s way.
ReplyDeleteJanie is afraid Tea Cake is using her for her money. The townspeople don't approve of Janie and Tea Cake being together. Phoebe try's to tell Janie to watch out for Tea Cake but Janie doesn't care about what she say.Janie's future plans are to sell the store and move away and have a happy life with Tea Cake.
ReplyDeleteJanie fears that Tea Cake is just using her in chapter 11 when he is absent from her presence. She feels as though he wants her for her but on the other hand when he is away from her he stays away for a long period of time.Over in chapter 12 the towns people of Eatonville do not approve of Janie likings of tea cake because of the fact he is younger than her and he is using her for her money they even compare her to mrs. tyler who also dated a younger man that used her for her money. when phoeby comes to speak to janie .. janie tells her Tea Cake treats her the way she wants to be treated she cant mourn over joe if shes not sad and she tired ofliving others life she wants to live the life she dreams of with tea cake and she plans to sell the general store and marry him.
ReplyDeleteSome of Janie’s fears are that Tea Cake might do other women the way he do her, and that he’s trying to use her for her money. The town didn’t like it and they think that Tea Cake is using her. I think the fact that the men want to be in Tea Cake’s position and the fact that they’re jealous is the reason they’re mad. Janie explains her idea of love by telling Phoeby that Tea Cake treats her the way she wants to be treated. Janie tells Phoeby that she plans to sell the store, move out of Eatonville, and marry Tea Cakes.
ReplyDeleteChapter 11 Janie fear if that Tea Cake is playing with her feelings and only wants her wealth. Chapter 12 the reactions of the town is about Janie and Tea Cake dating they think that Tea Cake is poor and only wants Janie for her money. She explained to Phoeby the love for Tea Cake was different because he treated her like a normal person which she liked while Jody treated her with importance and wealth that she didn't like. In the future her and Tea Cake was going to leave Eatonville and close the store and run off and get married.
ReplyDeleteShe feels like she beinh used by him being younger than her he might be playing games...when truth is he actually has feelings for her. People look at her differently because they're use to her and joe and they feel like shes to old for him.

The town doesn’t approve of Janie and Tea Cake being together in chapter 12. Janie tells Phoeby that she wants to sell the store and run off.
ReplyDeleteJanie has many fears about Tea Cake in Chapter 11. One of the biggest fears is the age difference. Tea Cake is much younger that Janie. Janie is sort of shame of what other people would say and whether or not they would approve of their relationship. Janie fears that Tea Cake is a man that every woman dreams of having. She fears that Tea cake messes around with lots of women and he does not committ to relationships. Janie fears thatTea Cake is falling in love with Janie for what she has. Janie fears that she would not be the only woman. Lastly, she is insecure of Tea Cake during his absence from her. In Chapter 12, the town is not satisfied with the relationship of Janie and Tea Cake. The town feels as though Janie has lost her mind and has not given herself enough time to grieve her husband's death. Janie has gone on to enjoy her relationship with Tea Cake. Her everday agenda is wrapped around Tea Cake. The reaction is that the town feels that Tea Cake does not have anything to offer Janie and Tea Cake is lowering Janie's standards by taking her on low-class adventures. The town feels that Janie is not showing respect for her husband's death. The town feels what lies behind Tea Cake's agenda is to be involved in the realationship with Janie for her money. Janie explains her idea of love for Tea Cake to Phoeby by comparing the actions of her deceased husband to Tea Cake's actions. Tea Cake is not trying to show case Janie but is showing interest in her by chosing colors for her to wear and taking her places that excites her. Janie has always had to do what her ex-husband wanted her to do. She is experiencing a new life with Tea Cake. The surprising news that Janie share with Phoeby is that she plans to sell the store and leave Eatonville and marry Tea Cake.
ReplyDeleteIn Chapter 11 Tea Cake is much younger than Janie. Janie knows that the towns people are gossiping about her and Tea Cake. Janie is scared to express her feelings for him but she knows she feel the same as he do. Tea Cake is the man that every woman dreams of having. She is also afraid that Tea Cake messes around with other women. The town doesnt approve of Janie dating a Younger and Poor man like Tea Cake, the town also doesnt like how Tea Cake treats her how he wants to whenever. she doesnt want to know that Tea Cake maybe using her for money. In Chapter 12 the reaction that the town show is that the towns people are highly upset about Janie and Tea Cakes relationship, they dont like them together. The town feels that if her late husband has just died she shouldnt move on to the next man so fast, and especially if he is lowering her standards. Janie explains her love to Phoeby by comparing Tea Cake and her dead husband actions. Every man Janie has been with she has had to listen to her husband tell her what to wear. Phoeby warns Janie to be careful with Tea Cake, they sit, talk, and laugh. Janie tells the town that she will sell the Store, leave Eatonville and happily ever after Marry Tea Cake :) .
ReplyDeleteSome of the fears Janie expressed in Chp. 11 about Tea Cake was she feared that Tea maybe using her when in actuality he really likes her. Also being that he was younger than her really feared her as well. The reaction of the town toward Janie & Tea relationship was sorta like in disbelief because they felt that she's lost it dating this younger guy. They feel that he doesn't meet her standards and that she went from being the mayor's wife to a low class. Janie explain her idea of love to Phoeby by letting her know how Tea Cake treats her differently than her husband did. And how Tea Cake lets her be herself. The surprising news Janie share with Phoeby about her future plans in Eatonville and her future plans with Tea Cake is her selling the store, leaving Eatonville, and marrying Tea Cake.
