Describe the reaction of the townspeople when they find out about them in chapter 12. Why are Janie's friends so against them being together? Everyone is trying to control janie life . And they think she should be with teacake because he is 12 years younger then her and they think he is only after her money and that he would live her when he gets her money. Also when she was saying she lived her grandmothers way was because she was told by her grandmother the man she wanted her to marry and for that she never got to learn the true experience of love the way she thought it should be.
ReplyDeleteHe comes into the store to buy some cigarettes. She looks at him like she's just found her another entirely other life , a young life. He helps her see that no matter how old she is , she still has a young girl inside of her waiting to be loved. They thought Janie would end up like Annie Taylor , and she'd run off with a young fellow and she'll come back because he took all her money.
ReplyDeleteI think when Janie first met Tea Cake, she started liking him right away. They started flirting, they played checkers, & they had a drink. Some townspeople thought it was good Janie found her another man & she's happy BUT others dont think its such a good idea for Janie to date a man so younger than her.
ReplyDeleteI think from the time TeaCake came in the store to buy some cigarettes Janie thought he was young but she thought he was cute and funny. They joked around and she found herself saying that he was easy to talk to . He made her feel like a women again . He forces her by saying she can basically get what she want by her looks and that she does have a mind of her own . The towns people think that she is disrespcting her late husband and that i she was to get with someone it should not be with TeaCake , it should be with someone like the man in Sanford. Her friends think that TeaCake is trying to spend money on her so that in the end she would have to spend on him . That she would end up like Mrs Turner old and broke ! They think Janie wants a man with alot of money but all she really want is someone to love and him to love her . ANd waht she means about her grandma's way is that she went off with a man that she didnt love just to please Nanny . She wasnt able to experience real love . And now she is going to do whatever she want to find real love !
ReplyDeleteOneday He invites her to play checkers, she say's no man has ever respected her enough to ask her to play checkers. She notices his good looks and shapely body. Janie and the stranger play a good natured game and continue their flirtation. Then they chat some more and Janie asks him how he plans to get home. He answers that he always finds a way home even if that requires sneaking onto a train illegally. She finally asks his name, and he replies that it is. And her her grandmother the man she wanted her to marry and for that she never got to learn the true experience of love the way she thought it should be.
ReplyDelete. When Tea Cake come into the store, he purchased his merchandise and they immediately had conversation, it was more like a flirt than anything else. Then he invites her to play checkers. They played checkers and drank their soda. They then had a little thing going. After Janie left her late husband, she began dating Tea Cake. Everyone thought that, by Tea Cake being way younger than she was, that he was just after her money .

ReplyDeleteWhen Janie first met Tea Cake she was so happy. It's like she had forgot about everything else that was around her. Tea Cake made Janie feel a certain way in which the other man didn't do for her. He made Janie laugh and smile which was very hard for the other man to do.The reason why the townspeople do not want Janie hanging around Tea Cake is because they think that she would end up like the other lady and that he will take her money.
ReplyDeleteTe Cake comes in the store and gets some cigarettes. When Janie sees him she thinks she has found another life. Te Cake helps her notice that no matter how old shr is she is still beautiful and wants to be loved deep dwon inside. Everyone in the little town thought Janie would end up like Annie Taylor. They thought that Janie shouldnt leave off with Te Cake because he woud take all her money.

ReplyDeleteAt the sight of Janie Tea Cake waste no time using his charm on her and Janie immediately feels as though she's found another life.
ReplyDeleteTo Tea Cake Janie symbolizes a older woman with a young heart who's ready to love.
The townspeople reaction to Janie and Tea Cake's engagements is not too positive. They don't think too highly of Tea and don't like the idea of Janie's and his age difference.
Janie's friends don't like the fact that she's all up in another man's face when her husband has not too long ago died.
The townspeople think Janie wants wealth and fame but really all she wants is a genuine love.
Janie feels her whole life up until now she's lived her Grandmother's way because she's done whatever it took to put herself in a high chair.
