Selma, Lord, Selma Chaps. 3 & 4

In chapters three and four Sheyann and Rachel both become more involved in the voting rights movement in Selma. They participate in the rallys at the church by singing "freedom" songs. What was the purpose of these songs? Why were they so important to the movement? They also attempt to participate in the early marches, which are unsuccessful. Why are the marchers initially turned back? Rachel's apartment is abuzz with people who are partcipating in the marches. Describe the mood in her apartment, and the concerns that some of the adults participating in the marches have. Tomorrow in class you will be expected to read chapters 5 & 6, and I will blog this weekend on chapters 7-9. You will also have a quiz on the book next Tuesday.

Selma, Lord, Selma

U.S. History students need to bring Selma, Lord, Selma to school on Tuesday. Also, your wiki projects are woefully incomplete. You have less than three weeks left. This is a major grade worth 150 points. This could make or break your grade for this nine weeks.

Economics students took notes entitled "Setting Prices". These notes are on the wiki. Students also did a worksheet on how to read combined supply and demand curves. This sheet is on the absentee bulletin board. You are scheduled to have a test on chapter 6 this Friday, but the schedule may be changed due to ACT testing this Wednesday. U. S. History students began watching Memphis Belle and taking the video quiz. We will begin reading Selma, Lord, Selma in class on Tuesday of next week. All groups should be working on their wikis by now. Psychology students will have a test on Module 18 Thursday.

Thursday, April 3

U. S. History students had a test today on Chapter 23, and followed that up with Chapter 24 vocabulary. The vocabulary is online on the class wiki. In order to make up your test you will need to see me before or after school. Please remember, I will be doing a book check for Selma, Lord, Selma next Monday. You MUST have your book in class on Monday to get the first grade associated with the book. If you don't I will deduct ten points per day that you are late. Economics students had a test today on Chapter 4. This is a very long test. In order to make it up, you will need to see me AFTER SCHOOL ONLY either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Psychology students took notes on Social Learning, and did a vocabulary crossword puzzle, which they turned in. See me to get the assignments.
