TEWWG chapter 18
The seminal event Of the book occurs in chapter 18 when a hurricane hits the Everglades. What do Janie and Tea Cake decide to do in the face of the hurricane initially? Who is with them? What eventually changes their minds regarding their previous actions? Later Janie nearly drowns in flood waters and Tea Cake has to save her from a vicious dog who is standing on the back of a cow. Tea Cake kills the dog, but not before he gets bit. Predict what you believe the outcome of the flood events will be in chapter 19. Please phrase your responses in complete sentences, and remember that spelling counts.

I feel like Tea Cake made a lot of decisions during this chapter. To me this chapter was mostly about love. If I was them I probably would have listened to the Indians, then again if you lived in that time and a crazy man said, "A black man is going to be president! " None of us would have believed him. Motor Boat was with them through majority of this chapter. Until he made the decision to sleep instead of going on with them I predict that he more than likely died.
ReplyDeleteSo the reason that I feel like this chapter is about love is because Tea Cake asked Jaine did she regret coming down here with him to the Everglades. She basically said to him no if it was my time to die it is my time to die. This chapter also makes me feel this way because of how she tried to get something to let Tea Cake rest on it. The fact that Tea Cake was tired and still came to her rescue and got bit for trying to save her life. That made me say "Awww" a few times.
Janie and Tea Cake decide that they are going ride the hurricane out with along with the companion of Motor Boat. Fun Fact! Lake Okechobee Is forty miles wide and sixty miles long! there is no way possible the could have survived that hurricane, but they made it. In thee process Janie (while holding on to a cow's tail) gets attacked by a dog and Tea Cake saves her but in the process got bite by the dog high above his cheek bone.
ReplyDeleteI like this chapter because it shows companionship. Each character has to rely on one another. They have to help one another to make sure that they make it through this hurricane and it was not a joke. They had to got through trails and tribulations to survive 100 miles of water. Its shows love, loyalty, and compaionship.
Janie and tea cake decide they was going to ride the hurricane out with along with the companion of motor boat. They could have survived that the hurricane but they had made it.
ReplyDeleteJanie asked why was everyone, leaving and a worker replied that a hurricane is headed there way and that her and. Tea cake should find some place safe and secure since they decide that they will be staying so tea cake and Janie and a friend of there's motorboat. They take cover in abandoned home on a hill as they settled in the abandoned house and takes a nap Janie wakes up to see the lake approaching quickly so they begin to move again but motorboat to exhausted so he stays behind. Janie and tea cake swims. To see nothing but destruction from the storm Janie tries to use a piece of melt from a house as a shield but is blown away and a cow comes down the. Lake with a vicious dog on it's back tea cake saves Janie from the dog beating her but soon later start to weaken from the dog sickness which is known as rabies.
ReplyDeleteThey find out that there is a hurricane but decide to stay even when many people and animals start leaving in fear. There were other men who stayed so they all had a party at Tea Cake's. The storm hits, the men decide to leave all except one, a man named Motor Boat. They only leave when evidence of a serious flood comes to their doorstep.
ReplyDeleteThe flood will be a major part of Janie and Tea Cakes relationship. I believe that the dog bite and Janie's shooting ability will cross paths regarding Tea Cakes upcoming demise funny, I always imagined that he would die by a bullet, just not by Janie.
After all that is happened how do you think Janie feels after shooting Tea Cakes. What do you think the outcome or after fact would be chapter 19 & 20.
DeleteAs Janie began to see people leave she started to wonder why are they leaving in such a rush. As one the fellow walk by Janie asked why is everyone leaving the man answered in such a panicky way a Hurricane is coming. Few days past and more people began to leave even animals started to follow in the same direction as the people. Tea Cake and some over men stayed at Tea Cake house for a Party. Wait! At the end Tea Cake so called friends began to leave him and Janie at the house, but there was this one man name Motor Boat that stayed with Janie and Tea Cakes. After he storm began Tea Cake,Janie and Motor Boat started to move East to the hill for higher grounds. They all move to a house near by to rest. That's when Motor Boat decide to stay behind. Tea Cake and Janie started again to move East Were Janie was trying to save a cow from a viscous dog. The dog started to attack Janie but Tea Cake begins to wrestle with the dog and began to Stab it to its death.Before the dog was killed the dog bite Tea Cake on the cheek.
ReplyDeleteIn Chapter 19 I think the outcome would be deadly. Also I think the outcome would be unexpected.
